What is Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)?

REIMS BIPS uses PKI security, a system used to verify the validity of the parties involved in electronic communications and to ensure electronic data transmissions are secure. PKI involves digital certificates, certificate authorities and other registration authorities. PKI uses two keys: a public and a private key. A message encrypted with a private key can only be decrypted with the associated public key (and vice versa).
